3 hour workshop
Adult Assistance: Depending on class size, teacher or teacher’s aid assistance may be needed.
Students are introduced to labyrinths through stories, photos, diagrams, workbooks and portable canvas labyrinths they can walk. An introduction to the history, locations, vocabulary and design of labyrinths is presented and a variety of experiential activities are led to familiarize the students with actual labyrinths. The students also receive a “Labyrinth Book” with worksheets they complete and can keep as an educational tool.
Cost: $300
Eligible participants: one class of 3rd to 6th Grade Students

Preparation time: Half day prior to workshop, 1 hr prior to class plus clean up
Adult assistance: 2-3 adults depending on class size (preferably 18 or less.)
Space needed: Room for a 12-foot square canvas, a paint clean up area, and student desk space for drawing activity – auxiliary space for a second canvas is necessary.

The students will receive a “Labyrinth Book” with worksheets they complete and can keep as an educational tool. Additionally, a canvas Classroom “Hands of Peace” Labyrinth will be created by the students for use by the school in follow-up activities.

sessions given one day each week
Preparation time: ½ day prior to canvas workshop day + clean up on canvas day
Adult assistance: Periodic assistance from the teaching staff plus 2-3 adults on canvas day depending on class size (preferably 18 or less)
Space needed: room for a 12-foot indoor square canvas as well as an outdoor labyrinth space, a paint clean up area and student desk space for activities
Residency participants are introduced to labyrinths through stories, photos, diagrams, workbooks and portable canvas labyrinths they can walk. The residency sessions provide a more intensive presentation on the history, locations, vocabulary and design of labyrinths. An expanded variety of experiential activities are also led to familiarize the students with actual labyrinths and how they are used. The students will receive a “Labyrinth Book” with worksheets they complete and can keep as an educational tool. Additionally, a canvas Classroom “Handprint” Labyrinth will be created by the students for use by the school in follow-up activities. The final classroom session is a Labyrinth Dedication Ceremony and the 6th is a “6 week follow-up” activity. This program meets the national and regional educational standards.
